Commentary on courtesy flags
Any feedback on the local response to our courtesy flags is welcome; we will be happy to investigate further and update our information and even our flags if necessary.
Where there are different courtesy flag options we will list them separately and any first-hand feedback is always welcome.
For example, the British Virgin Islands are usually red and that's what's listed, but they're usually hailed in blue and we've got some blue if you like.
Likewise, Bermuda is often red, but local authorities generally accept blue.
Spain is available courtesy of red/yellow/red horizontal stripes (cheaper) or with the right Yacht Ensign Crest option.
Bahamas is available as a national flag, and alternatively as a civilian ensign, as feedback has suggested this version may be used more widely locally.
Please note: Overseas yachts are required to fly the red flag as a courtesy flag when visiting the UK (not the Union Jack) and may also fly the red flag for some islands, domains and associated British territories without offence.

How to label your courtesy flags and organize your flag jam
Courtesy Jimmy Green Half Yard Flags are made from a soft, supple polyester fabric that requires no ironing.
All have a consistent design, half a meter in size, with a tie-down loop at the top of the hoist and a cable at the bottom.
This means they can be conveniently stored together, in the bottom of a drawer, or rolled up in a cupboard with all the lift lines hidden away.
For yachts that only need a few courtesy flags, allocating a suitable cupboard and carefully rolling or folding them is probably sufficient.
For Caribbean, Pacific or Indian Ocean cruises (including the Red Sea and Persian Gulf) where multiple different flags are required and therefore multiple changes are required, there are some simple steps you can follow to use and maintain your flags. Safe courtesy is more of a pleasure than a chore.
It's wise to mark courtesy flags early on, after checking perceived wisdom, for example. B. Jimmy Green's website, a complete book from Pocket Flag, Wikipedia or cruise blogs.
Some courtesy flags are memorable, but some may be difficult for you or your crew to locate after a long journey without Wi-Fi or 4G so check your decision.
Marking prevents the somewhat embarrassing mistake of flying the wrong flag when entering a foreign anchorage. No crew member is likely to enjoy a hurried search for the correct flag, followed by a hurried attack and hoist again, especially when an amused welcoming committee enjoys their discomfort.
Jimmy Green Half Yard courtesy flags are perfectly packaged for easy organization and identification.
Stack the flags face up. This means that the lifting handle is on the left side.
Use an indelible permanent marker to write the name of the flag on the hoisting tape.
Put them in any order you like, e.g. alphabetically, itinerary
